Well that's different...
I haven't seen a lock rod like that, every one I have seen up until now has been straight as an arrow.

I looked in a 1970 chassis manual, and I looked in my 67-68 chassis manual. Both show a straight rod being illustrated.

Took a few pictures of the manual, showing installation method.
