Captainfab has said certain parts on the 73-87's are beefier.
I also think things like balljoints and the such are cheaper for the more plentiful 73-87 trucks.
Either way, if one is going to rebuild the front 65 or newer, it's pretty much 6 of one, half dozen of the other.
