In 71 they went to a cable linkage 70 and earlier is a throttle rod There are no springs inside the cab they are on the carb. You may have some loose bolts on the mounting plate that holds the pedal rod to the firewall. Another thing on the 70 and eailer if it is adjusted wrong the rod will ride to high on the pedal itself and stick
