I just read about the spacer you needed. I had to put one on my sons 82 with the 305. I needed it though because of the carburator choke mechanism stuck out to far. The carb is a quadrajet and all the speed shops said I needed the spacer, espically since I wanted to pass emissions. I bought my spacer at "Lopers Speed Shop" here in Phoenix, pretty $$$ - $50 for a piece of alu.
Its about 3/4" wide and does the job, is this what yor looking for and not the 1/4" stock spacer? If so find a local speed shop, they should have what you need.
