To add to Tim's comment, any time metal gets stretched it has to be shrunk or you will always have a high spot. This can be done with the correct tools and technique.
If you work on it, you can get it to where you need no filler at all. It depends on how much time you want to invest. When I do use filler, I do not go over 1/8 in thickness. As others have stated, you also need to consider what you are using the truck for, show or driver.
