Standard water flow in a stock gen 1 small block is radiator to water pump to block flowing to the back,up into the head and then out of the heads at the front into the intake and through the thermostat and back into the radiator,,,,the heater has to be tied in on the suction side of the pump and pressure side of the pump....IE: off of the intake and back into the water pump(water pump is the return and the intake side is the supply to the heater).The back is generaly plugged or is threaded for heater tap (rather than using one of the front fittings)
