Imo a 3.07 is too high of a gear for an od trans and it will hunt too much if you encounter hills. Iirc Gm never installed an od trans in front of anything higher than 3.42. A bbc might have the torque to mask this

GM built lots of 88-98 GMT-400 trucks with a 350FI, 700R4 and 3.08s. My 89 came like that from the factory with 235-75R15 tires.
I just rebuilt and built up the 700R in my truck and getting ready to switch to 3.73s in it.
