I understand there is nothing to seal, i'm probably more concerned about affecting the throw of the lever or possibly vibration.
Tho's who have the know, is a gasket necessary at all?

It doesn't effect the angle of the push rod or vibration. It's really in there tight. I think it is mainly there to keep water/exhaust from coming inside the cab. It probably isn't the end of the world if you don't have one, but it would be best if you did. I found one at the junk yard
