The red wire with black plug sounds like the power lead to the radio or cigar lighter. On my Blazer, there are two separate wiring harnesses that run to the wiper motor and pump motor. Both have multiple wires contained in plug ends with unique shapes so they are not used on the wrong motor. Someone here will hopefully post up a picture of what I am talking about. I would be leary of using that red wire, as a fire that far up in the dash would be hard to get to to put out quickly.
