We used to rent a barn on a farm near to a grain store to work on cars in. The rats around there were the size of cats and the concrete floor of the barn was hollow with rat burrows underneath. Every so often we used to stick a garden hose up an exhaust pipe, stick the other end down a rat hole and leave the engine running for a while, exhaust fumes used to come up all ver the place, kept the little buggers numbers down a bit and gave us some satisfaction anyway!
