One other comment though, just to clarify: there was not "a person" who sits and types out each SPID individually. The options and descriptions were pre-programmed into a primitive computer and then reprinted remotely based on that previous data. As Tim mentions, there was variation between model years and between plants, with the description sometimes varying a great deal from the actual engineering functional name.
