If it's an Edelbrock AFB, it's easy to rebuild. I did one when I was 16, just cleaned it good and set the floats. Just put everything back in the way it came out. I love Q-jets, but AFB's are good too and easy to rebuild.

Get a dual plane square bore manifold. If you find a nice spreadbore manifold cheap, get one of these.
