actually it stands for Central Office Production Order.

This branch handles the oddities that people or companies special order that cannot be purchased through regular chains of consumer buying lines.

Things like Police cars, Taxi cabs that need a specific color (like taxi yellow) and of course the famous Nicky, Baldwin Motion, Yenko cars that were ordered with 427 engines (Chevelles, Novas, Camaros) and the Yenko Duece (LT1 350 powered) Novas.

Your truck may have has a specific color ordered from the factory that had to be approved before making a line change in the paint dept. Then the people will make out the COPO approved change and go with it. It may have had an odd engine option, or a heavy chassis option, but most of the COPO stuff was color orientated especially on our trucks.
