I had a 2wd and a 4wd axle 12 bolt --I only had to move the 2wd perches 5/8 or so of an inch each to get 42.5. The 4wd perches are in 1 inch less about 40" compared to the 2wd 41" about. I need a 2 pc driveshaft. Looking at one out of a 72 longbed. The 46 4 speed I am using is open driveline from a 1 1/2 ton, the truck came with an enclosed 1st piece on a 4 speed- 4 speed was bad. I may end up moving the carrier bearing location depending on what 2 pc driveshaft I use.

And I had to remove the bottom trailing arm perches on the 2wd as they interfere with ubolts
