I am in the process of the same thing. I got a filler door out of a wrecked S-10 pickup. Door, filler neck, everything. I'm putting the bed together and will measure off of the filler neck. It will be just behind the fender opening (I've done this before actually). I like the little indented area behind the door for your finger. Looks very stock. Most people don't even notice you've moved it. You can adjust a couple of inches either way with the filler neck. I used exhaust pipe, bent and welded to the S-10 neck. I'll try to post pix of the first truck I've done. I'm going to do the same thing, just different color...
