There is a 2-prong L-shaped black plastic plug that goes directly into the rear of the tach - it can be unplugged from behind/underneath before removal. If there's enough slack, you can pull the cluster fwd a little before removal and see if you can get your hand back there - but you might as well yank it while your hand is up there to undo the speedo cable. Less likely to scratch your dash that way.
