So like 68Bowtie says you need to look on drivers side of the frame by the power steering pump and steering gear. You may have to wire brush the paint off.
Here is the original frame of my 71 swb showing the location of the VIN.
The vin on the frame matches my door vin tag (hard to read, but it does).
Which matches my spid, which also matches my orignal protect-o-plate.
