You should have 1/8" of free pedal so that you don't end up causing a bind. Do you have a manual for your truck? I used to have a link to post for people. One of our members was gracious enough to upload a lot of the manuals. You can search for it, and get the correct free pedal adjustment for the brakes. For 1970, it's on page 5-10.
