Funny I never heard that before. The SBC derived V6s weren't GMC engines, These V6s are "GMC-only". No need to complicate things with an inaccurate description. I've only started hearing that recently, which is why I'm saying something about hoping to keep it from spreading. My experience has been that those who call the GMC V6s "big blocks" call all of them big block V6s. It's because they are big engines. They are a true truck engine. A whole lot of iron in these engines that get 305 cu in out of and up to 478. True the 305 had a big bore at 4.25", but that left a whole lot of meat. The 478 from same block had a 5.125 bore! That's 7/8" more bore!! I wish I had a side by sife of GMC V6 and small block.
I'd love to have this truck. It should be left as is, but my tinkering mind says it would be supercool with a 351/4spd swap, the way it could have been built, with 8" wheels and dual exhaust. Stock height
