Thanks guys. Oh ya sheÂ’s definitely patient with me! And she helped me take out the 32 bolts from the roll cage.
I’m going to clean it and rattle can black or powdercoat it. A buddy of mine owns a powdercoat business and he’s got some cool colors so I may try and get it coated close to that interior color, which I think is “saddle”
Inside the cab is a little rough. IÂ’m not complaining at all. IÂ’ve seen some out of state trucks that were super rough. It looks like my truck sat outside for a couple years and mice were hanging out inside while bees were hanging out in the bed. The carpet and padding was all chewed up and there were about fifty dead dried up bees in the bed with big chunks of bees wax stuck on the side of the bed.
IÂ’ve taken almost everything out of the cab except for the dash area. IÂ’m going to see how clean I can get the instrument panel. The dash is cracked and will likely get replaced. The plastic kick panels are solid just a little faded and dried out. All the other trim pieces are really nice. The plan is to order all the pieces I need from USA1industries like maybe the kick panels, a bottom cushion for the seat and seat cover. The frame and back cushion is solid and IÂ’ll probably reuse it. Although theyÂ’re not cheap, so if I happen to find one in the same color on offerup or craigslist, it might end up cheaper.
My biggest thing is I donÂ’t want any leftover mouse crap in the truck. There is some rust on the passenger side but both rockers look very clean and under the doors themselves is clean.
Any suggestions on what to spray the floor pan with after I get all the rust off?
It needs tires bad. IÂ’d like to get some rallyÂ’s for that year or an old school mag wheel. Probably 33s. I have a 70 K5 with 33s and aluminum wheels that came with it. IÂ’m debating swapping those to this 75 and going with different wheels on the K5. IÂ’m beyond fortunate to have these options!!
Sorry to ramble on. But the end goal is to clean up interior, leave exterior alone (I donÂ’t mind scratches and dings on trucks) and get mechanical stuff working well (it runs ok but it needs brakes and the trans was slipping a bit when I drove it home)
This is the most IÂ’ve ever tried doing with a car or truck so IÂ’m pretty new to replacing and fixing stuff. So it will be a learning experience for me. Also thereÂ’s no overtime at work right now so when that picks up IÂ’ll be ordering parts here and there (she lets me use my overtime $ for cars
Thanks guys
