Here's a pic of the 67-72 face on the voltmeter. I set the needle for 12v in the straight-up position, and used a 13.8vdc power supply to confirm it in the "charging" position.

In the second pic I repurposed the AAW harness yellow and purple VSS leads and connector for the voltmeter. Yellow is ground, and purple (12v ignition) is spliced to a bullet connector for future use, and the gray lead in the #1 position in the gauge connector (lower right).

I probably over-thought this, but it was a winter project when I couldn't tackle other things.
