Repo...that's exactly how mine was broken...make sure that you work with the hinge itself to free it up and make it move as easily as possible...then just do what i did (two pieces of plastic and epoxy the heck out of it)...it will work and will save you $100. I cut back that rubber on the hinge a bit so I could get epoxy in the hinge area (where the plastic meets the metal rod) and then put the plasitc pieces as much over the hinge as possible and still have it move correctly.
