Couple things about powder. Powder loves a sand blasted surface. Powder needs a somewhat rough surface to really adhere.
Also depending on the the part you are powder coating knock the sharp edges off the part.
If powder is going to fail its on a sharp edge.
Pick a color of powder the you can match with touch up paint.
