I have never heard of any of this being enforced, but, like I said, I would hate to hear of it after an accident and be out my classic all for some minor taxes and the hassle of inspections.

Since I only carry liability coverage at this point, I figure if I am in an accident I am out anyhow, so I take the risk. I am going to be putting one on the road in the next year or so where I have a lot more invested, so I may decide to revisit insurance coverage. But, I have never heard good reports where someone loses one of these and comes out.....insurance companies usually will fight tooth and nail to not pay out, so I will likely just liability cover it and take my chances.
And don't get me started on the yearly personal property taxes......
