"FARMERisms" of the day
Don't get me wrong I was a farmer once too, but ya' gotta love the innovative engineering that happens on a farm
![]() Today's Farmerisms: -My '67 is a rust bucket from the lower body line - down. Everything is rusted through or missing for the most part, except the rocker panel on the passenger side. It's there and even has matching paint on it. I can see no signs of any real fabrication work, so I scrape the paint off of it and what do I see? A yellow and black Catepillar symbol staring back at me. My rocker panel is actually a fiberglass Catepillar sign or box of some sort that has been heated, bent and twisted to look like a rocker panel. -After deciding to basically surgically remove my cab corners with a sawzall, I thought I might try and clean them out a little to keep from cutting through anything solid. These cab corners have 9 inch rust holes that were filled with that yellow spray foam insulation for houses that hardens pretty tough. So I pry the spongy mess out from the rusted metal and find two Coors light beer cans added into the mix, I guess it was to help stiffen their creation, kinda like putting rebar in cement. :-) I'm sure I'll find plenty more, but I'd like to hear what others have found when patching up an old farm workhorse.
