3'' front 5'' rear drop? Anyone?
Thinking about dropping the front 3'' with springs and the rear 5'' with springs.Anybody have any pics of this setup? Also would 3'' coil spring drop on the front be to much? Have front drums so I can't go with drop spindles at the moment..

I am in the same boat, I was going to ask the same question. I was an inch away from buying a 3/5 coil spring setup today,(shocks springs panhard bar etc.) but the guy at the parts place could not tell me the pro's and cons of this setup. LMC says you need to do a C notch frame at 5 inches. So I gotta ask is a 3/5 setup with nothing but springs and shocks Ok with just springs and no C notch, or should I go 3/4 or 2/4 I need a cheap spring only lowering job but want to go as low as I can.

I have done 4 drops on various 68-72 trucks. the best ride I found was on a long bed 68 with a SB. I did a 3/5 drop all spring, but I did do a rear shock relocation on it. I think it rides better/smoother when this is done. I don't think the adjustable pan hard bar is really needed because I could not tell a difference in the ride with or without it. A BB would be better with a 2" front drop to get the same result as the 3" on a SB truck.

Great Stance
Thanks for putting the pic of your truck with the 3/5 Slammed 66.. I have a 72 LB BB that I want to lower and have been agonizing over which height and which way to lower her. I already installed the front (1 1/4) sway bar with the poly bushings and special brackets for lowered trucks from ECE and want to puchase my lowering kit this winter and install it next spring when I take her of hibenation. Slammed your truck has the exact stance and look I want and I'm even running 15' and the other GM rallyes on mine. I was wanting to put the 2 1/2 dropped spindles on mine but then the minimum lowered spring I could run is 1" which would give me a 3 1/2 drop in the front. I thought that running a 3" dropped coil in the front would give you a real harsh ride cause your taking 25 to 30% of the spring away but you say your truck rides great.I was going to get my dropped spindles from ECE but they only have the 2 1/2 inch ones. Do you guys know of anyone that makes a good quality 2" dropped spindle and then I could use a 1" drop spring to get my 3" total front drop.

I dont think id hesitate to run a 3.5 , its still look good
my truck sits fairly level but I did always wanna drop the front just a little bit more. if you run the spindle and spring combo your only takeing an inch out fo your travel , it should work great.

You can align a 3 inch drop unless something is bent or damaged. My Suburban is aligned perfectly with 3 inch drop spring and 2.5 inch spindle (5.5 total inch) drop in front.
I've aligned a good number of 3 inch drop spring trucks myself. The only problem children were trucks with bad control arm bushings or bent control arms.

I have a 3/5 drop on my truck. I also have c-notch, because it would hit on a good bump. I think it depends on the springs you use. A friend of mine has a 3/5 drop and his does not hit. He also has the heavier springs and a stiffer ride. I also have a adjustable panhard bar. With a adjustable bar you can center the rearend under the truck, otherwise it gets pushed to one side. I say, go for the drop

Hey slammed66, the front are 15x8 with 255/60 and the rear are 15x10 with 295/50. I wanted the 17s but the price was right on these.

Nice Truck & Stance !!
Hey Gray Ghost thanks for the info. I have decided to go with a 5" rear coil drop with the adjustible panhard bar and shock relocators and I'm not going to bother with a c-notch unless it bottoms out after I get all that done, from what most guys have said on here I shouldn't need a c-notch with what I'm gonna do. In the front I am gonna do the 2 1/2 " dropped spindle thing with a 1" drop coils. I'll get a 5" rear and 3 1/2" front drop which should give me the stance I want. I am going to get my parts from ECE. I also have ( but haven't installed them yet) the rear frame mounted gas tank and hidden
Class IV hitch from ECE which will add a liitle weight to the back and bring the rear down a touch more. I am running 225/70R15 GM Bud Wheels on 15x7 rims and am just going to kep it that way for awhile even after the suspension work.

It's funny how we all want the 17" TT2's and yet we all go with the rallys and 255/60 front and 275/60 rears.
Hey the rallys look great. On all of our trucks.
