Sorry for my lack of knowledge...
But what is a stroker kit and how does it help your motor.

Stroker is most commonly applied to the small block chevy. You take a 400 crank (3.75" stroke) and put it in a std bore 350 chevy block (stock crank is 3.48") to yield 383 cu inches. The added crank throw and cu inches gives you more of the favorite thing to have on the street....torque! Remember...there's no replacement for displacement!....except maybe a blower and/or nitrous. Used to be you had to find a good used 400 crank, but now you can buy new cranks and "stroker kits" from the various aftermarket mfrs.

Yeah, the longer the throw of the crank, the more torque you gain (think of a bicycle with REALLY long pedals) Its easier to move the bicycle, say up a hill, than with standard length pedals. ITs like a breaker bar for your pistons! You also gain more cubic inches because at the bottom of its travel, the longer throw crank will pull the piston further down the cylinder and push it further up the cylinder. Sometimes you have to use shorter piston rods to avoid shoving the piston into the head at the top of the longer travel.

Thanks guys cuz my mechanic suggested i put in a 383 stroker and i was wondering what that was... I have a 350 right now

Actually Cork screw you need to have your 350 bored .030. witha 3.75 stroke crank to get a true 383 stroker. I will tell you the best bang for your buck. is to order a Eagle stroker kit from Summit racing. It comes with everything you need. Stroker pistons, steel crank,rings,bearings,etc. Then you will need to take your block and parts to a reputable maching shop and get your block clearanced.
