dipstick tube and sputtering

i have 2 new questions.....my oil dipstick tube is loose and you can pull it right out,,,,how do you get it to stay in?....and my other question has to do with the way it runs.....runs great at idle and when easily accelerating, but when you really push on the gas it sort of back fires a little and sputters....is the timing off or something?....it seems to start just fine and idle fine, just does it when you really get on it
