71 c10 carb troubles

hey guys, i could use some ideas.....I recently put an edlebrock performer rpm manifold on my stock 350 with a holly 4160 carb. it ran great for a while then had some issues. then i switched to a 1406 edelbrock and it is running pretty good, but it seems like it wants to sputter and backfire when shifting in to secound. by the way it has a turbo 350 trans. but higher rpms seem to be fine. you guys have any ideas on what to try? thanks for any input you may have.
