Here’s my favorite weld smoothing tool.

roj, flap type discs work but IMO a little harder to control especially when grinding the top of the weld. I prefer flat type discs for taking down the weld then finish up with scotch brite roloc, and if I want to get fancy I go to the DA. Whatever grinding method is used, its the fit of the panels that makes the biggest difference on metal finishing.

Nice collection. Are all of the grinders necessary or just to make it easier on you to switch between types of wheels?

krue, they're all necessary, for me anyway. I use each tool for a specific step depending on how far I'm going with the finish.

i agree. i never said it's the only one i use it's just my favorite. it literaly saved me 20 hrs when i shaved the holes on my frame. i'm sure i'll find other favorites when i get to more body work.

Earl, i don't have any of the tools in your post above. Can you tell me what your recommendation would be to start with? I would like to get the basics (most of my welds won't be exposed) and build up over time.

I would also like to know what tools you recommend for cutting metal other than a plasma cutter and sawzall. Same situation as described above

FYI, I loved your videos. When was the last time you updated them? I may order another set if you've done some new things
