Drilled And Slotted Rotors for my 70, need advise

I am doing the D-52 rear disc brakes with Captain fabs brackets on my 70.

I already updated the front end with a disc setup off of a 72. So I will have disc brakes on all four corners. I bought Napa rotors for a 92-02 Astro AWD safari (Part # 880442).

But now I am thinking about going drilled and slotted rotors.
Any recommendations on a good place to get matching drilled and slotted rotors for my truck that has the 72 truck rotors up front and the Astro rotors out back?

I found these but they do not have the look I want. I would like to have the slot lines as well as drilled.

Only problem is that they are drilled but not slotted. I am having a hard time finding a company that offers both the 71-72 style rotor and the 92-02 Astro style both that match.

I know you want the look.
I put drilled and slotted rotors on the front of my blazer.
They look cool when you first put them on.
But later when all the drilled holes and slots start to rust, they look like crap.
I will go with smooth plain rotors from now on,... unless I can find a rotor finish that won't eventually rust.

Unless you're auto crossing or really pushing your truck, do you really need drilled and slotted rotors? I know, I like the look too .. but, just saying.

It is for the looks that I am wanting them. I was planing on using some of the new rotor paint (Black) they have come out with latley to help them to keep there crisp look. I also have access to a sandblaster if I need to clean them up evey once in a while.


NAPA has this one for the 72 front but not anything similar for an astro that I would be useing on the rear.

Will the "high temp" brake rattle can paint hold up to this heat? Maybe paint them 1st?...

It's funny because I've never thought about them rusting and always wanted them myself...I guess I've never noticed this on anyone's rides or they tend to clean them up before shows.

I get my rotors zinc washed at my local plater. Not expensive and lasts the life of the rotor. Only area that rusts is the pad contact area but gets shiny with a quick trip round the block.

You could always have a machine shop turn a good quality American casting rotor into what you want. Not cheap but you will get what you want in the end and you can customize the look to the way you want them.

Biggest cost will be locating the cooling vanes and setting up a balanced drilling pattern to hit the voids between vanes. A little quality time with a good rotor and AutoCAD should do the trick.

We used to do this in the machine shop I worked in back in the late 80's before the aftermarket stepped up and started making them. Now the only reason to have them made is for custom applications where no off the shelf drilled & slotted rotor exists like for this application. Maybe you can work up a deal with a local machine shop to make a few sets you can sell off to recover some of your setup costs.

I ordered a set of front rotors for my Nissan two weeks ago that the manufacturer(Power slot/Centric) is slotting for me, as they dont normally make slotted rotors for this application. So i know that custom can be done directly from the manufacturer. Price was very acceptable too.

This might be your easiest route to making sure that they match front and rear??
