Rust Rust Rust

I have a jimmy and the thing is terrible rusty. honestly im going to have to replace/patch just about every panel. My question is am i going to better of patching it back together or try to find another one. I bought this truck for 2500 buck and i drive it all the time but once i start to restore it i think im going to be in for a pain in the ass.

Any thoughts or comments would be appricated

Re: Rust Rust Rust

Are you sure ANY comments would be appreceated? Sorry, too easy. Patching can be an overwhelming job if you step back and realilize everything has to be cleaned up. If we are talking small panelsor pieces that are easily purchased or fabracated I would consider it. Where else are you gonna get a clean jimmy that you know the condition of the drivetrain as well as you do that one cause you drive it all the time. It is not a truck, that might be different as it would be easy to replace and it is cool but maybe not as much as the jimmy/blazer. Think if it the same way you would eat an elephant, one bite at a time. get one panel patched move on to the next, try not to take it all aprt until you have to or at least want to. A moving project is a lot more fun and motivating than a blocked up dust gatherer. Jim

Re: Rust Rust Rust

well the drive train isnt a big deal bc i have a twin turbo 8.1l with an allison that im putting in it. But thats not my point there isnt a panel that doenst have to be replaced(entire floor, both quaters are shot from the top of the wheel openings down the rockers are gone the windshield frame is bad) when i say everything i mean everything so im just afriad that once i start to cut one panel out that the panel next to it wont have enough good metal to attach the new panel to. So i what im thinking is if i can sell it for what i got in it i could buy one in better shape but i just dont know how how much im going to save by doing so.
