Can you please help me identify this part?
Can you please help me identify this part? It is some type of cylinder that is located on the passenger side below the batter try. I have included a picture of the part. It has some hoses attached to it but I didnt look where they were going. I have circled it in red
Let me know what you think its is.. |

Hard to see in the picture or I am just going blind. I think what you have circled is the charcoal canister. The hoses should run to the carb and the fuel tank. It is nothing you need unless you are restoring to original. Most of these got pitched in the trash years ago.

I would have to say you are right. I googled what you said and from what I can find out about it, it seems to be spot on. I guess that's why it didn't matter that half of it rusted away. haha
Thanks, Chris |

Re: Can you please help me identify this part?
I do believe that they are correct, however I would say keep it/replace it. The charcoal canister stores fuel vapor and does not rob horsepower. It allows you to have a non-vented fuel system which helps (however small) your MPG.
If you want to pitch anything, get rid of that flex fan. They are HP robbers and dangerous and noisy to boot.
