Unhappy Gotta get tailpipes

I think i will be investing in a set of tailpipes for my truck pretty soon. I have dual exhaust, with 40 series Flowmaster Delta Flow mufflers, and it ends above and infront of the rear axle, without any turndowns or anything on the mufflers. Well, lately while driving the truck, i have been smelling a little exhaust in the cab, and shortly after or while driving the truck, i get headaches. So, it seems that i am getting a little carbon monoxide poisining. I have had the system this way for almost two years, but my floor has rotted alot in those two years, and i think the gases are seeping in there. So, i am planning on putting a set of tailpipes on the truck. I have headers, 2.5" pipes right now. I was thinking of running 3" pipes out behind the rear tires, and then putting a 12" long, 4" wide echo tips on them, or running 2.5" pipes behind the rear tires, and putting 24" long 4" wide tips on them. My question is, which system would sound better? I love the way the truck sounds now (deep and throaty, loud too), and i would like to keep it that way.
