Brake cylender went south, leaking fluid on rear shoes. Can they be cleand/saved or should I replace them?

from my experience and my opinion.

If the wheel cylinder has not been leaking for a long time, you can probably clean the shoes with some brake parts cleaner and be OK.

If the wheel cylinder has been leaking for quite a while and you just now found it, replace them as they can become sticky.

If you are unsure of how long it has been leaking, better to replace them.

I would replace them and clean the drum with brake cleaner

If it was my truck, I wouldn't hesitate to replace the shoes. Better to know what you have, rather than take a risk with something as important as brakes.

ONE TIME YEARS AGO, WHEN I WAS WORKING ON A TRUCK I WAS RESTORING, I HAD IT IN MY DRIVEWAY, GUTTING THE INTERIOR. WELL I STRIPPED EVERYTHING OUT OF IT, NIGHT TIME WAS COMING ON. & I FIRED IT UP TO BACK IT INTO MY GARAGE. I HAD SHORTS ON, & AS I BACKED IT IN, I FELT MY RIGHT FOOT GETTING WET. I HAD REMOVED THE INSTUMENT PANEL, & FORGOT ABOUT THE OIL PRESSURE LINE, & PUMPED ABOUT 3/4 OF A QUART OF 10 W 30 IN MY RIGHT SOCK, RUINING A GOOD PAIR OR REEBOCKS.
OH -- YOU MEAN BRAKE SHOES !!! WELL IT REALLY DEPENDS ON HOW BAD THEY WERE SOAKED. I,VE SOAKED EM DOWN GOOD WITH "BRAKE CLEAN" (IF THEY WEREN'T TOO BAD) & THEN PUT THEM ON THE BELT SANDER. BUT IF THEY APPEAR TO BE WATERLOGGED (OR IN THIS CASE "BRAKE FLUID LOGGED") I THINK I'D GO AHEAD & REPLACE THEM

If they were regular brake shoes I would just replace them because they are cheap enough. But if they were my kevlar shoes I would try everything to clean them up because they ain't cheap

The brake fluid goes in the master cylinder, not in your Nikes.
