This has been done here a few times; I'm working one for my Blazer.

What's involved in doing that? It's on the list of things for the '72 I just bought... I really prefer the 67-68 look

Re: 69-72 GMC with 67-68 hood
GMC's are different, no cutting or welding required. GMC's use the same fenders as the 67/68 chevy trucks from 67-72. Not 100% on this, but I think all you need is the special metal piece for the top of the grill off of a 67/68 GMC truck (it looks like the top of a 67/68 chevy grill). Then you pull the 69-72 style GMC trim off the fenders, weld up the holes and you have a 67/68 GMC looking truck. The only thing I'm not 100% on is if the 69-72 grill will work with the 67/68 top piece, or if you need a 67/68 grill too.

Re: 69-72 GMC with 67-68 hood
Yup,you can slap a 67/68 hood on any 67-72 GMC if you have the grille filler/valance panel.In`69 GMC added the grille surround to make up for the shorter hood. All the actual grilles from 67-72 are interchangeable. That piece is not reproduced and not so easy to find.
Basically,a picture of a`72 with a`67 hood will look the same as a`67 with a`67 hood.

Re: 69-72 GMC with 67-68 hood
After you said that I never thought, so I went and checked my spare GMC upper grill support next to a 68 grille I have out and sure enough it looks like it would work just fine. You wouldn't really even need to finish the lower edge you cut off because it would be hidden. Good thinkin

Re: 69-72 GMC with 67-68 hood
I'm with you I would like to build a GMC next too, I have the grill and tailgate and the truck just need to put it together after I get my 68 chevy done.

Re: 69-72 GMC with 67-68 hood
The grille fits into the valance panel, not over it.
