New un-named crew cab project......
I picked up a 1991 Chevy V3500 today.
It was some type of fleet rig I assume. It is the fulfillment of another "dream truck" for me. 6.2L diesel, 4L80E, 14 bolt rear, Dana 60 front (got my fingers crossed for 4.56 gears ![]() ![]() I have got to get the alternator charging, throw a couple batteries in it, and replace the glow plug controller (someone robbed it). The interior is probably the cleanest of any truck I have ever bought. I'm not really sure what direction I am going to take it just yet, I'm kinda leaning towards OD green and H1 bead locks with the biggest tire I can get with the least amount of lift. I'll have to come up with a catchy name for it also.... On to the pics It's too bad i got rid of my gray interior stuff ![]()

my brain is racing trying to decide which route I wanna take. I obviously don't want to cut the fenders on this one. I need to figure out how big of a tire I can run as it sits. I want to keep this one simple Quote:
I'm actually pretty surprised how solid this truck is for being up here. It doesn't take long to turn one into a rust bucket. I totally understand Adam!! I was in the same boat. this one was sitting about a half mile from my house since we have been up here. I finally saw the guy outside and stopped to ask about it. I about fell over when I saw it was a 6.2 with a 4L80E and then he told me how much he wanted for it.......I'll just say I almost felt bad for getting it sooo cheap, almost ![]() ![]()

Re: New un-named crew cab project......
Nice truck Joe! Looks like an old Alyeska rig. There are a ton of those all over the state (but few with the OD), part of why we can find 14 bolts and dana 60's so easily up here. I think you could get 285's under it without any trouble...

I wasn't sure what company, i know I see a ton of trucks all years that are this color, the burb is the same color but it has power windows. That's kinda what i was thinking, 33's should work....I want bigger though, I may have to lift it a bit eventually ![]()

Re: New un-named crew cab project......
I really hate to see all the stress this rig is causing over tire size so I will be happy to take it off your hands for you.

![]() And it gets even better, the 4L80E is backed by a NP205 ![]() and the front output has a CV/double cardan joint. I also found a tag on the front diff, it says 4.10's. a little disappointing but I can't complain ![]() My t-case won't come out of 4hi, I'm not sure if it is the shifter or the case. I'll probably look into that this weekend.

Re: New un-named crew cab project......
I guess the t-case shifter was just stubborn from sitting. I did some research and decided to try the "bang it into high" method
![]() It worked ![]() I also thought this was interesting I guess maybe it is a '91 6.2L, 4L80E, only deal?
