Re: 67 c10 first build
the story for this build. my grandpa is a long time hot rod builder and has a lot of knowledge. i love to go help him on his projects. but i wanted to build one of my own. so i picked up the 67 and the guy had tried to put it on an oldsmobile frame but i didnt like that idea. so i started looking for a frame. found a 71 long wheel base frame and went a picked it up with the plans on cutting it down to a swb. then i found a 69 short wheel base frame so i went and go it and ended up swapint the 5 lug from the 71 to the swb frame. i wanted to lower the truck and bag it but this is somthing that my grandpa doesnt know andything about and im still learning mostly from this forum. so i started looking how to get it low for little cost i came across drew715s build where he z'ed the frame and my prandpa builds z'ed frames all the time for his hotrods. so i did all the reserch and this is what i came up with. 3 in in the front and 5.5 in in the back. this is as far as i am at this point. i owe alot of thanks to people of this forum yall can do some amazing stuff and am gald that yall are willing to share it because i would not be able to do some of this stuff without the info on this forum. thanks Matt |

Its been a long time since i have seen that approach for lowering, it may have been on a TV show some time back, anyway you sparked my interest so i'm subscribed.

Re: 67 c10 first build
Never seen anyone lower their truck this way, but I guess it will work. I have to keep my eye on this build. George

Re: 67 c10 first build
What did you do to get the core support to line up with the cab/fenders? Following for an interesting build!

Re: 67 c10 first build
He z'd the front of the frame right behind the core support mounts allowing the core support to drop. You can see it in post #3 second picture. Hope this helps.

Re: 67 c10 first build
Maybe I'm a bit confused, but you said you're not using bags, so what are you going to use for suspension? Is it just basically a body drop w/out suspension drop?

Coming along nicely. Love the bench too. I am sure your Grandpa will as well.
I will be following along for the ride.
