WTB NL2 Aux Tank Fuel Gauge Selector Switch
Need a functional NL2 (i.e. factory single) aux tank fuel gauge selector switch. This is the one that goes on the dash just above the left a/c vent with the sticker labeled Aux/Main - it's used to switch between senders for the aux tanks to drive the fuel gauge.
Not looking for the mechanical fuel tank selector valve down by the driver's side door sill. Thanks! Mark |

Re: WTB NL2 Aux Tank Fuel Gauge Selector Switch
I have one Mark. This is for the 72 factory auxiliary tank, correct? I have the switch, knob, and harness. I can post pics later tonight. I got the visors the other day, wow that was fast!

Re: WTB NL2 Aux Tank Fuel Gauge Selector Switch
That's the one Scott, that would be awesome, thanks. I have my dash apart, my fuel gauge never really worked anyway, so was testing the switch among other things - and with a simple ohm meter, I can get zero resistance with the switch in one position and never get it in the other position (with the leads on the other terminal, etc). Thanks again.

Pic. If you can tell me how I will test it to make sure it works.

Re: WTB NL2 Aux Tank Fuel Gauge Selector Switch
That's it! I just used an ohm meter. There are 3 terminals on the back, 2 of which line up, the other one kinda on it's own. Set the meter to a high resistance level, 200k ohms or something like that. Put one connection from the meter to the stand alone connector on the gauge (EDIT: sorry, meant the stand-alone connector, or the oddball one, if that makes sense - didn't mean to say the gauge) and leave it there. Then, put the other connector of the meter to the one of the other switch connections. Reading should be "1" or close to zero. Then turn the switch, the reading should reverse (if 1 before, now zero, or vice versa). Then remove the second connection you made and repeat the process on the other remaining terminal (still leave the original connection to the stand alone terminal of the switch intact).
Goal is to check open and closed circuit, depending on switch position, for each of the two similar connections in the back of the switch. They should also be mutually exclusive - ie one open when the other is closed for any given switch pos. hope that helps. Open circuit would read 1 (infinite resistance), closed would read close to zero (minimal/no resistance). Thx Scott! Last edited by jocko; 04-07-2014 at 11:11 PM. |

Re: WTB NL2 Aux Tank Fuel Gauge Selector Switch
I tested it and it works. It took me a few minutes to realize you have to push the knob in slightly and then it "clicks" in place to the right or the left. If you do not push the knob in the whole shaft spins freely and it won't click over appropriately.
