I wasn't really "looking" for another truck. But... my other '72 project has pretty much turned into a full-on restoration

And... I've wanted an unrestored / original truck to be able to drive and use for "truck stuff" and not worry about.

So... I just picked this one up.

It's a real deal YE9 Cheyenne Super. Always in CA. Original DK Olive / White / Dk Olive / White Deluxe 2-tone paint. Nice 'patina'. Period-correct, staggered Ansens (I think?)

SPID, Bed, Interior, Wheel(s).

Seat upholstery is not original. Obviously the wheels aren't

Everything else appears to be unmolested

Any recommendations on how to freshen up and maintain the paint?

I'm thinking CLR for the hood and other areas that are showing some surface rust, then follow with a polishing compound and wax?

Sweet, and great color.

2000 grit and Wizard buffing compound and it'll look brand new. I've used that combination on a bunch of old cars....and it will bring the paint just about right back to how it looked coming out of the factory, warts and all. And of course, wax after that. I used....don't know the name, but I know it comes in a bright orange bottle. Just looked it up, Nu Finish.

Not so sure on the CLR, though. I tried it on this truck on the hood, and was not pleased.

Trim, door handle removal is key, also, to the overall look, because if you don't remove it, you'll have the "faded paint halo" effect around all of it.

Good luck and post a pic when you're done. I NEVER get tired of seeing original trucks looking all spiffed up.

And along w/davischevy (I look at all CL ads w/in 500 miles of me to check prices) regarding his inquiry about relative prices in AR and CA, how much did you pay for that truck? And will caveat that w/a "if you don't mind me asking."

That CL truck has had a different bed put on it, because the inside of it is blue and the AC brackets are missing, but think, based on some of the other POS that I've seen on CL, $4500 is fairly reasonable. Have you looked at it?

I wasn't trying to hijack this thread. I had seen the local one on CL just before I found this thread. I thought the local one was on the high side considering the bed and brackets.

I have not looked at the local one.
