Balance Question...
How critical is it that all rods be perfectly balanced in a 350? I may have mixed up which rods go where, and I even bought one from a junkyard because I bent one. Are they all a little different weight, each balanced to that part of the crank?
I have all new bearings, pistons and rings, the block was bored, and the crank was turned .010 undersize.

I should also add that it is NOT a high RPM racing motor. It is going in my truck, which will probably never see more that 4500-5000 RPM. The cam is only good to 4600, I built it to pull.

Unless you have a really heavy rod its no big deal. The factory does not balance the rods when they make the engines, excpet maybe the Vette and Caddy engines. They are all probably within a specified range. Make sure the junkyard rod is ok and straight, might want to have all the rods resized also.

For a street engine, you'll never know the difference.
I've built engines that my buddies called "sweep the floor motors" where I just gather up whatever usable parts I can find and put them together with new bearings, rings, and gaskets. Suprisingly, they are usually some of my better running ones. I guess it's the looser tolerances inside.

Thanks, that what I want to hear. I really didn't want to tear it back down and buy new rods...

Unless you plan on turning over 6,000 rpm it's not a concern. No problem for your engine.
