'67 Pickup
 Hi, I'm new to the board and this is my truck. I'd like to make it a solid, useful truck with little cost. Right now the floorboard is rusted through. The brakes are shot. The engine is in pretty bad shape. It hasn't been driven for about 8 years. What can I expect to get this running for when I do most of the work? What size engines came in '67's? What other engines will bolt straight up to the tranny? Thanks

Welcome to the board from W.V.. You got the truck and now you have a great place to get info but I can't answer your questions without more information on the truck. I think there might be a doner engine offerd (I6 ) on the board in one of the post to a good home.

Engines for '67 would be 250 or 292 inline six, and 283 and 327 V8's, if original.

Any smallblock chevrolet engine or inline 6 engine or even a 4.3l v-6 engine should bolt up to the tranny. Good luck on getting it going and welcome to the board fromSouth Mississippi!

Love the 67 truck. You'll have your hands full with her as many can attest on this awesome board, but don't get discouraged though, she's definitely salvageable. Best of luck and welcome.

New GM crate 350 = $1200
New rockers/floors/cab corners (u weld in)= $500 Paint job(decent BC/CC)= $1500 New Tires = $500 New Wheels (mid grade alum) = $700 New seat cover = $300 So $4700 should get you a nice looking, good runing truck with your labor. Add or subtract for features you need/ don't need. I woud certainly look at the engine closely to see if she can be made to work, as that is a major expense. Also, these have strong, servicable engines, and so it is a possibility that it can be made to run reliably. The rust is the biggest variable, and its repair depends on your skills and available equipment. It would be prohibitivly expensive to have a body shop do all the rust repairs on these cabs. Hope that gives you a good starting place. Also, update your Sig and profile so that the board members closest to you will volunteer to come fix your rig for free on the weekends!

I'll bet that you could have that sucker on the road in decent paint for less than 2500.
I'm thinking I can get mine done more like in the 1500 dollar range, but I do just about everything myself and I work out deals that are unheard of. |
