stereo

All the stock GM CD players are really big and wouldnt fit very well without major modification. You should consider an aftermarket one.

Aftermarket is the way to go

I would go the aftermarket way with a seperate CD player behind/under the seat. I really don't like seeing the dashes of these old trucks hacked up. There are lot of people who rebuild old knob type radio's with today technology just do some searching on the internet.

well It does have the large opening for the double din stereo. I think 88 was the last year for the small openings.

I put in a Alpine in-dash cd player in my 91 Suburban, upgraded to 3.5 Infinity speakers in the dash, Kicker 10 inch sub in the back and a small amp to run the sub. Back speakers by the third seat are stock at this time. The whole system sounds great, much better than before. No cutting or hacking for the CD player.

88(89?)-91 subs have 1.5 din size. Pioneer and I think sony make a 1.5 din stereo.
