v 8 in six mount position
Are there any problems with running a v8 (350) in the 6 cylinder mount position? Will the distributor hit the fire wall or do you have to fabricate a wider fan shroud?
Thanks for the replies everybody.

It bolts right in, the dist is a little tight if you run the HEI, but does work. Up front, I used the 73 up waterpump & accessories, to get the fan into the shroud(without a bunch of spacer). Here are a couple shots http://community.webshots.com/user/hotrodhorn

Is the alternative to move the engine further forward? If so, how difficult is that?

The 4x4 fan shroud is deeper.

thanks for the useful replies, everybody.
perhaps one on the smaller style distributors will work without any problems, will 1 or 2 of those electrical cooling fans take the place of that wide shroud? would it be better to use both shroud and fans, gets hot down here in MS in the summertime. looking at about 350 hp and 400 ft. lbs of torque for the engine.
