Does anyone have a rear hatch for a double wall top?

I just got my 72 home from paint and the rear hatch cracked around the hinge.

Fix it - it will be a lot easier and cheaper. You can buy new reproduction hatches. Mothertruckers sell them for around $385. It is just the raw fiberglass with no glass or hardware. The hatches are the same for single and double wall tops.

Yeah I had read another post where someone else had fixed theirs, but mine is cracked around the hinge and it's all the way across to the glass. Is that fixable? If so, with what.

Try any boat shop---they can do miracles with fiberglass and make it better then it was when it was new.

I got one but shipping would kill ya and finding one that's in great shape in hard as he!!.. I would go the boat or fiberglass repair route as it will be cheaper... Seems like the paint shop should have fixed that when they painted it??

Thanks for the advice, I'll try the boat shop thing. Yeah you would think that the paint shop would have fixed it seeing as it broke there, "on its own" too. Reliable, quality work is hard to find. Two weeks turned into 5 months and somehow I owed the guy more than we had agreed to. Oh well it's done now though. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow, I tried to today but the pictures took too much space to upload? I think if I use another camera it will work. So hopefully I'll have some pics tomorrow.

LUV2XCLR8 Are you sure that they are the same? I replaced the hatch on my double wall with a hatch from a single wall. I believe that the lift arms are longer or have a different mounting point. when I bolt mine together I can't close the hatch. The only way i can get mine to work is by using only one of the holes on the top to mount the bracket that the arms pivots on. does anyone have two tops they can compare or just a single they can take measurements from? I would really like to know if I have the wrong parts or if I'm just incapable of understanding how to make them work.

I think I did way up in the post list... As far as I know, they are the same. They only make one reproduction version and it doesn't specify if it is for a single or double wall top.

Anyone know the answer?

Red, you should bring your truck by my place some time. I've got single walls for both of my trucks. We can compair them and see if there is a difference. I'm just in Bothell off the 160th exit on 405.

I repaired my own a few yrs ago. The outer skin can be seperated from the inner skin. Then make your repair and bond the two skins back together with fiberglass resin. Chissel, hammer, saw, razor knife, wooden shims were used. Take your time.

Gyva - reproductions are available but they are expensive. Just keep your eyes open and you will find one. Better yet, get a soft top! I've never put the top on my '69.

Single wall tops also have dome lights - two on the drivers side.
