cutting front coils to drop
I just want to get a two inch drop up front on my 68, I have some coils I pulled from my parts truck....or whatever is left. I know you can cut off one of the loops. BUT how many would I have to cut to acheive a two inch drop....or as close too. Also when replacing the shocks with shorter ones do I need to buy special "drop shocks" or how would I go about getting some that are shorter???
Thanks guys...

1 coil is 2 to 2.5 inches. Stand the springs side by side then cut the second one at the same height. Maybe a little more or less than one coil on the second spring. If you dont do this the front will lean to one side.
I see your not to far from Austin. I have a cut pair you can have if you want to make the trip. Frank

I just used a metal cutting chop saw and it went through the spring like butter and it hardly even heated up the spring. I cut exactly 1 coil off and it gave me a 2" drop. Hope this helps.
