Carb question

Right now I currently have a stock 2bbl on a 305. I have an offer on the table of a 4bbl and intake for next to nothing. My question is what kind of power, gas, or torque differences can I expect if I do upgrade. Is it worth going bigger on a 305?

My Granddad has a 305 w/ a quadrajet carb in his 83 1/2 ton Silverado and he gets pretty good mileage. As long as you don't kick the back barrels in too often it will be alright.
