Can anyone tell/show me how to see the difference between Dana 44, 60 etc... I'm debating on making a daily driver/off road of my 72 blazer. I would like to know the difference. All I've read off 4wheel magazine is Dana 60 is a monster and it's bullet proof. Help please thanks.

on the street, yes, bulletproof. but with 44" tires, they can break like mine do. on a dana 60 the upper pall joint has a bearing cap on top of the stering knuckle with 4 bolts that hold it on, where as a 10 bolt or a 44 are flat with a grease fitting. it will say 60 on the diff housing.

44 and a 60 *look* similiar, but the 60 of course is alot bigger. They both have 10 diff cover bolts, and have a sorta stop sign octaganal look. In my pics link in my sig, there are some pictures of a Dana 60 in the front of my truck. Like ratpower said, the driver's side will have 4 bolts holding the steering arm on. The bottoms of the knuckles will have 4 bolts also. The locking hubs are huge (about 4" around) and have 3 u bolts and two studs holding the axle to the springs. GM and Dodge will say 60 on the housing below the cover, but Ford doesn't. Have to know what a Ford 60 looks like to ID one. I have a Ford 60 in the pics link below.
