'53- 235 CID modded into a 68 c-10
I bought this chevy and after doing a little research have learned it is a 235 CID engine and the built year is 1953 from the Flint plant. I don't know anything about these engines and even though this is a 47-55 truck forum you might have a little for insight and/or point to better resources.

Stovebolt will have better knowledge on the 235. I'm still trying to figure out why anyone would do the swap, putting an older, less powerful, heavier and longer engine in a newer truck.
Pre-54 235s came in two versions. One was a splash oiler version based on the 216. In 53 Chevy used an early 235 that was full pressure in the passenger car with an automatic transmission. I believe it had hydraulic lifters. If your oil pressure runs around 15 psi it should be the splash oiler, if it runs 30 psi it should be full pressure system.

I actually have a 68 parts truck with a 235 in it.It doesn't fit all that well IMO.It's too tall.I ran one in a 32 SWB and it was a slow go.I got passed on a hill by a motor home
I had it floored, and he just blew right on by.The ol motor just didn't have any umph.It was a good engine, never ever used oil,or smoked, but no power either. I have one in my 49 also, and it feels the same way.Just gutless, and low geared.
