This really is the fix!
Guys,
I have always had weak brakes on my blazer. Well I read about swapping in a 3/4 ton brake booster and was sceptical but it is the fix! I can lock em down now it feels much safer than before. I kept the original M/C and just changed the booster. Easy, easy, $99.00 at the local parts store. Al |

I've heard about others doing that too. Good to know! Is your truck lifted? Are you still running 1/2 gear?

I did the same and the difference was night and day. I went the junk yard route, but for $99, I should have probably got new. Same deal though, before my brakes were really weak and I kept trying to adjust the rears to get it to stop better. I put in the 3/4 ton booster, and bam, I could lock up the tires. I highly recommend it also.
My blazer is lifted 4 inches and is running the 1/2 ton gear still. |

Cool, I read about that on the "other" blazer board. (can I say that?) Sounded like an excellent idea. Going to try it myself. What type/year booster did you get?

are you talking about blazers w/ out discs in the front? My blazer (With brand spankin new breaks and master cyl.) stop about 1000X better then a 2001 Durango SXT 4x4 i drive sometimes. I hate that abs junk it has too. I dont know about "locking up" the tires !?!? My rears did that just fine before i fixed them, heh heh.

My Blazer is a 71 with disc brakes lifted 2" with all stock running gear. I couldn't believe the difference.
A couple of things, get a new vacuum hose about 4" longer because the booster is deeper and the bracket from the firewall to M/C will no longer fit. But I have a fix for that and as soon as I get ir done I will post a pic. There are a lot of so called fix's posted on these boards but again, this one works! Al |

I agree with all the above posters. I put a 3/4 ton booster and a C3 Corvette M/C (for future rear disk brakes) and it has excellent feel and incredible stopping power. I made a new plunger rod as well for the M/C so the brake pedal barely moves (less than 1/2") before I get the solid feel of the brakes. They feel better than any new truck, no mushiness at all.

Could you use the 3/4 ton master?
Would it change anything if you did? I guess not having to disconnect brake lines would be a plus. |

You can use the 3/4 ton M/C, but it plumbs the opposite of the 1/2 ton. Also I don't think there is an advantage, I believe the rod dia. is the same.
